Live Performance:

1965 to 1982 - Dance and concert bands encompassing a variety of music styles.

1982 to 1987 - Full-time country music sideman for regional and national artists, ranging from smaller venues to concerts at the stadium and arena level.

(Artist associations: Lew Dewitt/Statler Brothers, Michael Twitty, Robin Robinson, Ray Stevens, Sawyer Brown, Delbert McClinton. Venues: Grand Ol Opry/Ryman Auditorium, Norfolk Scope, West Virginia State Fair Stadium, Richmond Mosque, Salem Memorial Stadium)

1987 to 1993 - Final tenure with a dance and concert band, moving out of country music, back into Variety and Pop, and making a gradual transition from live playing into full-time studio work.

Studio Musician:

1982 to present - Part-time studio musician including participation in over 100 album projects.

Original composition and music production for local and national PBS television from 1989 to 1994. Third place composer award from New York Film Festival in 1994, for Blue Ridge Journal (WVPT/Harrisonburg). First and second place winners were “Late Night Mystery Theater with Elliott Stack and HBO trailer theme bed.

Other PBS music bed compositions: Skyline Illustrated (local interest weekly, WVPT), Rhymes and Reasons (scripted drama, WVPT), Dead Drunk (national documentary with Tom Poston), Short Takes (weekly local interest on WVPT).

2008 - First public release of a full length original work, including guitar instrumentals in a variety of styles, Once Upon A Guitar.

Studio Owner & Operator:

Hobby level recording starting in 1976, transitioning to full-time recording in 1993. Electric Arts Recording facility built in 1997. 400 client projects currently on file in the studio archive. Client career levels include nationally known artists, local and regional artists, as well as many making their first album release.

Other Career Involvements:  

1970 to 1972 - Guitar amplifier repair at Whitesel Music/Harrisonburg.

1972-1980 -  Salesman and department manager at Whitesel Music, Breckenridge Sound Co., Harrisonburg, VA. 

1983 to present - Part-time studio maintenance, repair, alignments, freelance studio installations, tube amplifier maintenance and repair. (Guitar & Amp Center/Harrisonburg, VA., Ace Music & Electronics/Harrisonburg, VA., Alive Studio/Harrisonburg, VA., Looking Up Studio/Kerneysville, W.VA.)

2004-2005 - Adjunct teaching position, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. (Audio Devices, a recording related class under the Music Industry Program).

Hobbies and Recreation:

Woodworking, cats, and a hopeless obsession with beautiful acoustic and electric guitars as well as great sounding guitar amplifiers. Books and magazines on the subjects of music, recording, guitars, guitar amplifier design and repair, and history of guitar and amp manufacturers.
